on April 1, 1967 PFC Arries was on patrol with Co C 1st BN. near Chu Lai, South Vietnam. The patrol was on a search and destroy mission in heavy brush, when at approximately 2:00 pm, when PFC Arries hit a concealed trip wire detonating an explosive device that mortally wounded him. He was 21.
